About Sera Creations
The Japanese traditional music has survived for thousands of years even to this day when things are moving and changing in a time-span of minutes. However, the population of Japanese traditional music is shrinking each year and this is an alarming sign for the future.
It is our firm belief that Japanese musical instrument related conditions, together with the quality of instrument related items must also evolve in order to stop this decline in Japanese traditional music player population, ultimately reversing the
decline so as to regain its glory.
We, the Sera Creations, are working to develop musical instrument related items that will respond to the needs of today’s Japanese traditional music players who seek modern “sound” and “playing”, because we believe that progress in music requires progress not only in “software” but also “hardware” – both working as the two wheels of a vehicle.
Japanese traditional music is a “Music of Japan”. “Japanese” should not feel it as “something far away”. We wish to make Japanese traditional music more casual, easy, and fun for all people – from beginners to professionals.
Sera Creations will continue its effort in serving the needs of all people who love Japanese music.
Story of this product
The products of Sera Creations were developed by people who, in their daily lives, have no relation to Japanese instruments. This, in fact, may be the reason why we were able to think from “outside- the-box” and come up with “unique and liberal ideas”.
Specialists from many fields of profession collaborated with pride, bringing together their skills and know-hows that they accumulated through long years of work. They made the impossible possible.
Sera Creations would like to express its deepest thanks to everyone who participated in this project, for their high “professional skills” and “will”, and most of all their “indomitable spirits” that drove them to continue to “keep on going with innovative thinking until the problem is solved”.

TKS Co. Ltd.
The ceramic used for this Kotoji is a fine-ceramic, high-tech-ceramic. Because of its ivory-like color and strength, we decided to use alumina material.
Although we use machine to make the Kotojis, the finishing process is done manually for each product which is why every item is delicately different in color, gloss, and shape from others. Our goal is to make customers enjoy the unique character of Kotoji in their performance and also to share a small part in environmental protection through the manufacturing of the product.
Fine ceramics- definition by JIS:
Fine Ceramics are produced with precisely controlled chemical compositions, microstructures, microstructural fabric/ grain boundary, configurations and production processes to fulfill intended functions and which are composed mainly of non-metallic, inorganic substances.

Chuetsu Pulp & Paper Co. Ltd.
The new Kotojis were given a significantly higher-strenth and higher-elasticity because of our new material “nanoforest” which is made of cellulose nanofibers that, by cutting pulp into nano-level size, gained a completely new characteristics. We are very pleased that our product was used for creating the new Kotojis, because it suggested a new area for the usage of the material. We hope our products to be used more broadly in the field of music.
Union Industry Co., Ltd.
Although we have a long history of making plant origin, ecological materials, it was a new challenge for us to participate in this project, and have enjoyed studying the quality and volume of sounds.
We made several test products before deciding on the final version and it would be our great pleasure if this new Kotoji could help enhance the development of Japanese Music.
FUJI RUBBER INDUSTRY co. Ltd.
Fuji Rubber Industry is a rubber product manufacturer in Ishikawa prefecture with history of over 40 years.
The silicone anti-slip grip which we developed for Sera Creations is small, but has an important role, so it was quite a challenging task for us to meet the functional standard set by them. However, those standards were met by application of “wisdom gained from experience and innovative thinking”.
We will continue to make effort to create and supply good components to our customers.
